5. Early church, Rosemarkie

print page

An early Christian settlement was founded here in the 7th century. This was succeeded by St Curadan's (or Boniface) monastery in the 8th century and, on the same site, the first Cathedral of Ross was established in 1125 by David I. The spot is now occupied by the Parish Church (1818-21).
