    Report on Coronation celebrations in Inverness. Wednesday, the day of the Coronation, was a public holiday & in Inverness it started with a service in the Old High Church at 9am. There was then a ceremonial parade with a march past at the Town Hall, three Pipe Bands in attendance - 4th Camerons, Depot Cameron, & British Legion. Youth organisations were on parade & the streets were lavishly decorated. A Royal Salute of 21 guns was fired from the Castle Hill. There were sports in the Bught in the afternoon & a fete in the Ness Islands in the evening. 6000 watched a fireworks display form the Castle Hill & the castle was floodlit. The Boys Brigade had a bonfire on Torvean, which unfortunately got out of control, as a result of which, the hill has been extensively damaged and many birds' nests destroyed
